The Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls, the four and five seeds in the Eastern Conference respectively, open a seven game playoff series tomorrow at the Barclays Center in New York. The Nets, who are favored at -4.5 against the spread in Saturday’s Game 1 clash, produced the better regular season record at 49-33 and they are expected to win the upcoming series. Bulls vs Nets Series Odds 2013 NBA Playoff Picks at Bovada.lv have Brooklyn listed as a -140 moneyline favorite ($140 wins $100) to advance to the post season’s second round.
The Bulls had tumultuous season as a host of injuries led to, at times, inconsistent play; however, despite the season long absence of their star player, Derrick Rose, they still managed to produce 45 wins. Chicago’s defensive prowess (allowed just 92.9 points per game) enabled it to overcome its lack of offensive punch, a weakness directly related to Rose being out of the lineup. While Rose could give the team a playoff boost, he will, in all probability, not play in the Nets series; the former MVP is currently listed as doubtful for Saturday’s series opener.
The Nets suffered through some inconsistencies as well, but they too survived them, finishing up the season with a 49-33 record. Brooklyn, also one of the league’s top defensive teams (95.1 points per game allowed), took a while getting used to luxury suite laden Barclays Center as it nearly won as many games on the road as it did at home (26 to 23).
Brooklyn, which enters the playoffs on a 6-1 run, also had its troubles with the Bulls this season. Chicago took three of four from the Nets, winning twice at the United Center and once in Brooklyn (92-90 on April 4th).
