The first meeting between the two squads took place on January 14th; L.A. scored an emphatic 99-73 road win despite the absence of Chris Paul as it held Memphis to 33.7 percent from the field. The Grizzlies evened the score on March 13th with a 96-85 win at the STAPLES Center, but the Clippers, who have won their last seven games, took the season series with a 91-87 victory in Memphis on April 13th.

Center DeAndre Jordan starred in that contest as he scored 16 points (8-of-13 shooting), grabbed 12 rebounds, and blocked three shots. Paul added 13 points and five assists in the win while Blake Griffin produced 12 points and nine rebounds. The Grizzlies were led by Marc Gasol, who finished the game with 18 points and 15 boards.
