The streaking Spurs will shoot for their 20th straight win and a 2-0 series lead tonight when they clash with the Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. This evening’s showdown in the Lone Star State is scheduled to get underway at 9:00pm ET at the AT&T Center; it will be broadcast live on TNT. NBA Odds have San Antonio listed as a -5 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 201.5 points.
The Thunder suffered just their second loss of the playoffs on Sunday night, falling 98-101 to the red hot Spurs in Game 1 of their best of seven series. Oklahoma City, which covered the five point spread as a road dog, led 47-46 at the break and 71-62 entering the fourth quarter, but a 39 point outburst from San Antonio in the final frame propelled it to a 19th consecutive win.
The Thunder, who are shooting 46 percent from the field for the postseason (second only to the Spurs), connected on just 35 of their 83 shot attempts (42.2 percent) in the loss. Four Oklahoma City players scored in double figures, including Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, who finished with 27 and 17 points respectively. The Thunder’s other three starters totaled just 17 points on 5-of-14 shooting.
The Spurs shot just 33.3 percent from long range and 68 percent from the charity stripe (17-of-25), but a 50-43 edge on the glass and a 26 point showing from Manu Ginobili proved enough to get the key Game 1 win. Tony Parker and Tim Duncan also played well for San Antonio, Parker posting 18 points, eight rebounds, and six assists while Duncan tallied 16 points and 11 boards.
Sunday’s game represented the Spurs ninth win in its last 10 games opposite the Thunder and their fifth consecutive win over OKC at the AT&T Center. While Durant and company could get hot and even this series at a game apiece, history says Game 2 is San Antonio’s to lose.
NBA Odds Betting Trend: The Thunder are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road dog with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
