Oklahoma City will look to even the score in the Western Conference Finals tonight when it hosts San Antonio for a Game 4 battle at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. This evening’s contest is scheduled for a 8:30pm ET tip off on TNT. The latest NBA Odds have the Thunder listed as a -3.5 against the spread home favorite; the game total is set at 201.5 points. The Spurs are a +155 moneyline play to take a 3-1 series lead while OKC is drawing -175 to even the series at two games apiece.
The Thunder ended the Spurs unblemished postseason in a big way on Thursday, scoring a 102-82 blowout win to draw within a game of San Antonio in the best of seven series. Oklahoma City turned up the defensive pressure on Tony Parker and company, limiting the Spurs to 39.5 percent from the field. San Antonio, which posted 221 points in the first two games of the series, also had 21 turnovers in the loss.
The Thunder, who won the battle of the boards 44 to 41, connected on 40-of-88 from the field and they were nearly perfect from the charity stripe, hitting 16-of-17 at the line. Four of OKC’s five starters scored in double figures, including Kevin Durant and Thabo Sefolosha, who led the team with 22 and 19 points respectively. James Harden added 15 points on the bench.
The Thunder have scored plenty of points in this series, posting 98, 111, and 102 in the first three games, but in order to draw even with the Spurs they must duplicate their Game 3 defensive effort. San Antonio was the best offensive team in the regular season, and it is doubtful they spent last night sulking about their poor Game 3 showing. The Spurs are veteran team and they will give it their best tonight in the hope of limiting this series to five games.
OKC is 6-0 at home in the playoffs, though, and they have more than enough firepower to match the Spurs on offense. And they proved on Thursday night they can bring the defense when needed.
NBA Odds Betting Trend: The Thunder are 8-2 straight up in their last 10 games as a home favorite with a total between 200 and 205 points.
