Heat vs Spurs Game 5 Odds 2014 NBA Finals Picks

spurs duncan and parkerThe defending champion Miami Heat will look to avoid elimination tomorrow night when they face the Spurs in a Game 5 showdown at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. The NBA odds makers at Sportsbook.ag do not like the Heat’s chances of extending the series, though. The latest 2014 NBA Finals Picks from the offshore bookmaker have the hosting Spurs lined as -6 against the spread and -245 money line favorite. The total in tomorrow evening’s game, which is scheduled to tip off at 8:00 p.m. (ET) on ABC, is set at 196 points.

The Heat ventured into seldom charted waters this evening as they suffered their first back to back losses in 49 playoff games on Thursday night. The Spurs, who pummeled Miami 111-92 in Tuesday’s Game 3, carried a 55-36 lead into halftime of Game 4. That was all the advantage San Antonio needed as it cruised to a 107-86 win and 3-1 series lead over the favored Heat.

As the score would suggest, Miami, which has not been an underdog off back to back losses since March 10th of 2011 (the role it occupies tonight), had no answers for the Spurs offense. San Antonio shot 57.1 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from beyond the arc. All 13 Spurs that took the floor scored and four of them registered double figures in points, including Tim Duncan and Patty Mills.

Kawhi Leonard was, once again, the Spurs biggest threat as he finished the night with 20 points (7-of-12 shooting), 14 rebounds, three steals, and three blocked shots.

LeBron James did his part for the Heat, scoring 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting, but he got little help from his teammates, who collectively were 22-of-54 from the field (40 percent).

In spite of their 3-1 advantage and three lopsided wins in this series, the Spurs know the they have unfinished business.

“They’re the two-time champs, they’re a great team and there is still one more game,” Tony Parker said. “We have to win one more game.”

NBA Finals Betting Trend: The Spurs are 5-0 both straight up and against the spread in their last five games playing as a home favorite coming off a road win in which they scored 105 or more points.
