Green Bay Packers 2013 Super Bowl Odds

The Green Bay Packers are considered one of the top teams in the league, but they are not expected to bring another Lombardi Trophy back to Title Town next month. Aaron Rodgers and company were one of the Super Bowl favorites when the season kicked off, sitting at +600 Super Bowl Odds, but they enter the postseason a +800 Super Bowl Predictions play and three other NFC teams (San Francisco, Atlanta, and Seattle) are favored ahead of them in the latest NFC Championship Game Odds.

Green Bay opened the year in unexpected fashion by losing two of its first three games, but it eventually rounded into form, going 9-2 in its last 11 games to finish atop the NFC North for a second consecutive season.

The Packers, who most expected to stampede their way to another Super Bowl title last February, are still something of a question mark. Green Bay’s offense, which dealt with a myriad of injuries, remained explosive but it was certainly down from last season, averaging almost eight fewer points per game (35 to 27.1). The concern on that front is limited, though, due to the presence of Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers did not match last season’s numbers, but he posted some incredible stats nonetheless, throwing for 4295 yards and 39 touchdowns (eight interceptions) despite his two top targets from 2011 (Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson) missing significant time with injury.

The Packers defense is the bigger issue; however, aside from few ugly outings, it played pretty well. Green Bay ranked 11th in both points (21) and yards per game allowed (336.8) and it finished second in the league with 51 sacks.

It is true the Packers have not been as consistent this season (meaning exceptional performances week in and week out), but the last time they were this inconsistent they won the Super Bowl. Not a bad Super Bowl pick at +800 odds.
