New England Patriots 2013 Super Bowl Odds

patriots brady belichickNew England, the favorite to win the Super Bowl when the season kicked off in September, is still a top choice among football bettors with the NFL Playoffs nearly ready to begin. The latest Super Bowl Predictions from offshore book maker WagerWeb.com have the Patriots listed as +220 odds to win the AFC Championship Game and +500 to capture the franchise’s fourth Lombardi Trophy. Only the Denver Broncos, who lost 31-21 at Foxborough on October 7th, are a more popular Super Bowl choice with the odds makers.

At this point the playoffs may be old hat for New England fans, after all, they would have no idea what to do with a January that did not feature Patriots football. They are accustomed to success as is the football team, which has dominated the AFC East for the better part of a decade.

New England is also accustomed to winning in the postseason, it is not satisfied with merely making a playoff appearance. It is about wins for Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, but Super Bowl success has become elusive for the dynamic duo in recent seasons. The Patriots have not won the Lombardi since February of 2005, and they are not expected to win it this year.

The Patriots are more than capable of turning expectations upside down, though. Obviously New England is one of the most feared home teams in the league, but its road chops are impressive as well. Should Brady and his cohorts need to venture to the Rocky Mountains in a couple of weeks, they will, no doubt, go prepared.

New England posted a 6-2 record away from home and its two road losses came by a combined two points. The Patriots are also the top offensive team in the league with 34.8 points and 427.9 yards per game averages.  Any team that can move the ball like and is used to the rigors of postseason football is worth a +500 Super Bowl flyer.
