The San Francisco 49ers (11-4) beat the Green Bay Packers (11-5) in Candlestick Park 45-31 on Saturday January 12th in the NFL Divisional Playoff Round as 3 point favorites to advance to the 2013 NFC Championship Game. The Packers got off to a fast start after scoring a touch down off an interception in the first quarter to open the game but lost the lead in the second and was unable to ever regain it. After the pick six, quarterback Colin Kaepernick took over the game with 181 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 16 carries plus he completed 17 pf 31 passes for 263 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running back Frank Gore racked up 119 yards on the ground with a touchdown. Wide receiver Michael Crabtree snagged 9 passes for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 26 of 39 passes for 257 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss. Many football pundits though Kaepernick in his second year making only his 8th start would struggle in his first ever NFL Playoff game especially going against the veteran Rodgers but Colin was really the biggest factor in the win. The Green Bay defense did not have an answer for versatile 49ers quarterback.

The Atlanta Falcons (13-3) beat Seattle Seahawks (11-5 ) as 3 point favorites in the Georgia Dome 30-28 on Sunday Janaury 13th in the NFL Divisional Playoff Round to advance to the 2013 NFC Championship Game. The Falcons clobbered the Seahawks in the first half, scoring 20 points and shutting out Seattle heading into halftime. Seattle answered back in the second half putting up 28 points and shutting down the Falcons offense completely in the 4th quarter. Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson had a monster game completing 23-34 passes for 379 yards and 2 touchdowns. Seattle had a chance in the last two minutes of the game however with Wilson leading the Seattle offense to what appeared to be the game winning score with 31 seconds left on a hand off touchdown to running back Marshawn Lynch. After the score, quarterback Matt Ryan led the Falcons down the field and a chance for a last minute 49 yard field goal which was kicked successfully by Matt Bryant to make Atlanta move on to the 2013 NFC Championship Game.
