As it turns out, we are going to have a NFC West battle in the 2014 NFC Championship game as the San Francisco 49ers head north to take on the Seattle Seahawks to determine which team will represent the conference in the Super Bowl. The odds makers have opened the betting line showing the Seahawks -3 point home favorites against the 49ers with the Total set at 39.5 points.
The Seahawks were the first team to clinch a birth into the NFC Championship after beating the New Orleans Saints 23-15 on Saturday. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was no where near top form after completing 9 of 18 pass attempts for 103 yards on the day and no touchdowns. It did not matter because workhorse running back Marshawn Lynch rushed for 140 yards on 28 carries and scored two touch downs. The Seahawks defense was able to stop New Orleans and their offensive machine with quarterback Drew Brees completing only 24 of 43 passes for 304 yards and 1 touchdown. Saints kicker Shayne Graham missed two field goals (45 yards, 48 yards) that went wide left. The Seahawks were 7.5 point favorites against the Saints so New Orleans backers came up a half a point short ATS. UNDER 45 backers cashed their tickets.
The 49ers completely destroyed the Panthers 23-10 in Carolina to advance into the NFC Championship. The Niners defense held Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and his offensive squad scoreless for 3 quarters and the entire second half. Newton was 16 of 25 for 267 yards and 1 touch down in the air. Cam was also their leading rusher with 10 carries for 54 yards. Niners wide receiver Anquan Boldin caught 8 passes for 136 yards in the win. The Niners easily covered the 1 point spread against Carolina and UNDER 41 backers were able to cash as well.
The 2014 NFC Championship Game kicks off in Century Link Stadium at 6:30 PM EST and will be aired on FOX. These two squads split their 2013 head to head match ups with each team winning on their home field. Bet on the 2014 NFC Championship Game.
