The NFL and its fans love the Manning brothers or in some cases love to hate the duo, but, regardless, Peyton and Eli draw major attention, particularly when their teams square off on the gridiron. Pigskin lovers will be treated to the third head-to-head clash between the two high profile siblings on Sunday, September 15th when the Broncos meet the Giants at MetLife Stadium (4:25pm ET, CBS). Carbon Sports made the match-up one of its NFL Games of the Year, issuing an early line on 2013 NFL Week 2 scrap. The offshore bookmaker is favoring the elder Manning and his cohorts at -1 against the spread.
Peyton Manning will look for his third career win opposite his younger brother when Denver and New York meet in week two but it would be his first as a member of the Broncos. Manning’s Colts topped the Giants 26-21 in a 2006 meeting in New York and they again trumped the G-Men in 2010, thumping them 38-14 in Indianapolis. Peyton threw for a total of 531 yards and four touchdowns (one pick) in those two games while Eli completed 33-of-58 passes for 408 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions.
If the 2012 season provides an indication, Peyton should enjoy more success this year. The Broncos, despite a postseason flop at Mile High, earned the top seed in the AFC with a 13-3 record while the Giants missed the playoffs with a 9-7 record. Most disturbing for New York last season, though, was the decline of its defense. The Giants were respectable in terms of points per game allowed (21.5), but they were better only than the Saints in terms of yards per game allowed (383.4).
Despite those numbers, the Giants remained a power at home, posting a 6-2 record at MetLife Stadium where they averaged a ridiculous 34.8 points per game. Denver, meanwhile, went 6-2 in road play, beating its host opposition by an average of 12.8 points per game.
