2012 NFL Week 2 Favorites & Point Spreads

by Thomas Jensen on Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

NFL PatchSports-Odds.com is taking a look at the 2012 NFL Week 2 Favorites & Point Spreads that the odds makers have posted a line larger than 7 points on. All four of the games in question this week have early Sunday 1 PM EST kickoffs and include the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans. We were 4-2 ATS on dogs last week, so be sure to checkout our NFL Predictions on the Best Underdogs to find the best value bets on the board in Week 2.

The New England Patriots (1-0) are -13.5 point home favorites against the Arizona Cardinals (1-0). Tom Brady & Company have the largest spread to overcome putting them at the top of the 2012 NFL Week 2 favorites list. New England looked unstoppable in their season opener against the Titans on the road beating Tennessee 34-13. Brady was 23 for 31 with 236 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win. On the other hand the Cardinals were in a shootout at home against the Seahawks. Arizona ultimately won 20-16 with quarterback John Skelton throwing 1 interception on the day. The Patriots should cover the spread fairly easy as long as Brady remains healthy in the game.

The New York Giants (0-1) are -7.5 point home favorites against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0). The Giants looked sloppy in their season opener against Dallas and it cost them the win in which the odds makers had them as a 4 point home favorite. Meanwhile the Buccaneers were a home dog against the Panthers. Tampa Bay had trouble containing Cam Newtown but were able to get the 16-10 win. If the line is over a touchdown the Buccaneers seem to be the smart play.

The Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) are -7 point home favorites against the Cleveland Browns (0-1). This match up has two AFC North squads looking for their first win of the 2012 season. I was a little taken back when I saw this spread because the Bengals looked so bad on Monday Night Football against the Ravens. Not to mention that the Browns played Philly so tight they almost won as a 9 point dog losing 17-16 on a last second drive by the Eagles. I am taking the Browns with the points in what I think will be a close game decided by a field goal.

The Houston Texans (1-0) are -7.5 point road favorites against the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1). Out of the four 2012 NFL Week 2 favorites, only the Texans are on the road as the other three have home field advantage going for them. Houston destroyed a dysfunctional Miami Dolphins squad 30-10 at home easily covering the 13 point spread. The Jaguars lost in OT to the Vikings in Minnesota last week 26-23 as 4 point dogs. The Texans should cover this line handily but I am going to pass on this game at this time.
