Week 3 NFL Predictions 2012 on Lions vs Titans Spread

by Tyler Morgan on Thursday, September 20th, 2012

The Tennessee Titans will look to move past two weekends of embarrassing play when they welcome the Detroit Lions to LP Field this Sunday. The latest NFL Odds do not like the club’s chance, though, as the Titans are listed as a +3 against the spread home underdog. This weekend’s inter-conference game, which features a 46.5 point game total, is scheduled to get underway at 1:00pm ET on FOX.

Week 3 NFL Predictions Experts are anticipating the Titans to stay among the win-less ranks this weekend, and why not. Tennessee has looked horrible, albeit against good teams in New England and San Diego, losing its first two games by an average of 24.5 points.

After going 6-0 ATS last week, you need to get the latest NFL Picks by Tyler Morgan before kick off.

The Titans have a host of problems heading into week 3 as their defense is allowing an average of 36 points per game and their offense ranks 22nd in passing and dead last in rushing (58 yards per game, 2.2 yards per carry average). Second year quarterback Jake Locker has contributed to the team’s lackluster production totals, having procured a 77.6 passer rating in his two starts of the season.

While Detroit is viewed as the better of these two teams, the Lions are an eyelash away from their own 0-2 start after backing up their last second week one victory over the Rams with a 27-19 week two loss at San Francisco. Nevertheless, the team is 1-1 and its offense does have tremendous potential as it demonstrated last season.

Matthew Stafford will need to take better care of the football if Detroit is going to slip past the Titans as most suspect it will, though. Through two games Stafford has been one of the league’s worst passer; the former No. 1 overall pick has two touchdowns to four interceptions and his 73.2 quarterback rating is 27th among the 33 signal callers who have played this season.

The Lions have not been a good choice in this weekend’s role either, posting a 3-7 straight up record and a 1-8-1 mark against the spread in their last 10 games as a road favorite with a spread between 0 and 3.5 points. All three of those wins did come last year, though, as they were 3-0 straight up and 1-1-1 opposite the number in meetings with the Vikings, Broncos, and Raiders.
