2016 NFL Schedule Week 3 & Betting Odds

texans jj wattWeek 3 of the 2016 NFL schedule features several intriguing match-ups, including Thursday night’s meeting between undefeated squads in Houston and New England. Also on tap is a clash between in-state rivals Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, both of which are unbeaten as well. Opening Week 3 football betting odds from Bovada.lv like the visitor in those two contests with the Texans drawing a -1 line and the Steelers opening as a -4 road favorite.

The Patriots have survived without Tom Brady thus far, defeating Arizona and Miami, but they are now down to third string rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

New England was rolling with Jimmy Garoppolo under center in last week’s meeting with the Dolphins, jumping out to a 31-3 lead. But Garoppolo’s day, which saw him complete 18-of-27 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns, ended in the third quarter with a shoulder injury.

Brissett, however, acquitted himself well in relief of the third year pro, connecting on six of his nine pass attempts for 92 yards.

Houston will present a stiff challenge for Brissett, though, ranking first in the NFL in sacks through two games with nine and third in yards per game allowed with a 274.5 average. The Texans, who are taking to the road for the first time this season, defeated the Chiefs 19-12 on Sunday.

The Eagles, who will host the Steelers this weekend, routed the Bears 29-14 in Chicago last night to improve to 2-0 under new head coach Doug Pederson. In spite of subpar performances from both Ben Roethlisberger (two interceptions) and Antonio Brown (four catches for 39 yards) on Sunday, Pittsburgh overcame division rival Cincinnati 24-16 at Heinz Field.

Joining those four squads in an effort to remain perfect are the Vikings, Ravens, Broncos and Giants. Minnesota and Denver are lined as +7 and +3 underdogs to Carolina and Cincinnati, respectively, while Baltimore and New York is -4.5 home favorite over Washington. Baltimore is drawing a Pick’em line in its road meeting with Jacksonville.
