2016 NFL Schedule Week 6 & Betting Odds

The 2016 NFL Schedule Week 6 is dotted with potential playoff previews as well as some key divisional battles. The slate opens tonight with a showdown between the Broncos and Chargers in San Diego. Denver, which is coming off its first loss of the season, is lined as a -3.5 road favorite. The total in tonight’s game, according to Bovada’s latest football betting odds, is set at 45 points, a number which every Chargers game has exceeded thus far.

While this evening’s Broncos/Chargers game is notable (mostly due to Denver), there are far more meaningful games on this week’s board. Meetings between Dallas and Green Bay and Atlanta and Seattle, in particular, stand out.

The Cowboys, at 4-1, have been a huge surprise. Fueled by rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas is off to a 4-1 start and they are 2-0 on the road with wins over Washington and San Francisco. Lambeau, where the Packers have won back-to-back games over the Lions and Giants, will provide a more difficult test for the Pokes.

Green Bay has also won five straight over Dallas in Wisconsin and it covered the number in four of those games. However, the Packers have not been as dangerous of late, in spite of their nice start to the season. Aaron Rodgers and company have not won a game by more than seven points this year and they have failed to cover the spread in five of their last seven as a home favorite.

Still, the odds makers are giving Dallas four points in Sunday’s match-up.

While few expected such a strong start from the Cowboys, it could be argued Atlanta’s 4-1 open to the season has been even more shocking. The Falcons thrashed divisional foes New Orleans and Carolina and they scored road wins over Oakland and Denver, who are a combined 8-2 on the season.

That start has not earned Atlanta any brownie points in its upcoming clash with the Seahawks, though. Seattle is laying 6.5 points in the much anticipated contest.

Atlanta is coming off a road meeting with a physical Broncos squad and now it will travel cross country to face another physically punishing team in the Seahawks. Seattle has also covered the number nine times in its last 10 games playing as a -2 to -6.5 home favorite.

Notable NFL Schedule Week 6 Trends:

The Under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings between the Chiefs and Raiders when Oakland was lined as a home favorite (Kansas City covered the spread in five of those games).

The Patriots are 4-1 both straight up and against the spread in their last five meetings with the Bengals.

The Steelers are 0-6 against the spread in their last six games playing as a -7 or greater road favorite and coming off a home win.
