Beijing 2008 Update Michael Phelps, USA Basketball, and more: In these 2008 Olympic games in Beijing, China, the Unites State currently leads the way in total medals awarded with 21 (7 gold, 6 silver, and 8 bronzes). However, China has won the most Gold medals so far, as they remain just 1 behind the U.S. with 20 (total): 13 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronzes.

South Korea comes in a distant third in the medal-count with 12 (5 gold, 6 silver, and 1 bronze). Australia is 4th with 10 medals (3 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronzes). And finally, rounding out the top-5 is Italy as they have earned 9 medals in total (3 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronzes).    

In Men’s Swimming competitions, Michael Phelps continues his pursuit of Olympic history. Last night, Phelps was able to capture his 3rd Olympic Gold Medal in the Men’s 200m Freestyle competitions, by setting yet another world record time (1:46:96).

Phelps is now a perfect 3-3 in these Beijing 2008 Olympics. Also for the USA, Peirsol won Gold Medal and setting a world record (Men's 100m Backstroke), and Coughlin won Gold (Women's 100m backstroke).

In Men’s Basketball, the “Redemption Team” moved to 2-0 by defeating Angola 97-76, on Tuesday morning. Dwayne Wade was the player of the game, as he shot the ball well, going 6-8 from the field to finish with 19 points. Next up for the Americans will be their first true test, as they'll take on Greece Thursday at 8 AM ET.

In Tennis Singles Women’s, 2-time Gold medallist Venus Williams, was able to get passed Czech Republic’s Iveta in straight sets.

In Soccer Women’s, U.S.A. defeated New Zealand by a score of 4-0 and clinch 1st place in Group-G. USA Women’s Team improves to 2-1, and their next match will be against Canada in the quarterfinals.
