IAAF Questions Gender of South African Track Star Caster Semenya: This is one of the most bizarre stories you’ll ever read in your lifetime, as the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has asked the South African athletics federation to conduct a gender verification exam on Wednesday’s winner of 800-meter event at the world championships in Berlin, Caster Semenya.
This is a true story, I promise. In fact, we want to know what you think, as SportsBook.com has put together a category solely for Caster Semenya and the sports betting odds of what the test will reveal. What do you think? Male or Female?
Semenya, born on January 7, 1991 in South Africa, finished in 1:55.45 seconds, the best time in the world this year.
The results of her/his testing won't be available for several weeks so you have time to become part of this scientific development. The tests were requested about three weeks ago when Semenya finished an 800-meter race in 1:56.72, which was seven seconds faster than her/his previous mark.
South Africa team manager Phiwe Mlangeni-Tsholetsane insists that there’s absolutely no cheating involved. "We entered Caster as a woman and we want to keep it that way," Mlangeni-Tsholetsane said. "Our conscience is clear in terms of Caster. We have no reservations at all about that."
Here’s the category and the possibilities: Caster Semenya — Will Tests by IAAF show that Semenya is Entirely Female?
NO [5/4 or +125 ML]
YES [4/7 or -175 ML]
