With an audience of more than 90,000 present at the Bird’s Nest, China said farewell to the world, and to a very successful Olympic debut as host country. But that’s not the only thing the Chinese were triumphant at.

In these Beijing 2008 games, China emerged as one of the Olympic powerhouses of the world with their 100 Medals: 51 Gold, 21 Silver, and 28 Bronze.

That’s 15 more Gold Medals than the USA, which won the second most with 36 Gold (38 Silver and 36 Bronze). The betting odds for the United States to win the most gold medals were also second best (7 - 5) according to Oddsmakers at SportsBook.com.

Russia came in third in the final Medal count, as they were awarded 72 in total: 23 Gold, 21 Silver, and 28 Bronze. Once again, the betting odds were accurate, as Russia was third best likely to win the most Beijing 2008 Gold Medals (20 - 1).
