Men The Master Nguyễn was born in 1954 in Phan Thiet, Vietnam. He escaped from Vietnam in 1978 by boat with 87 other escapees and sailed to Pulau Besar in Malaysia. In 1978 Men was granted politcal asylum in the United States. In 1986 Men became a citizen of the United States. While on a junket to Las Vegas he played poker and got hooked to the game in a big way. He started going to Las Vegas every weekend and was greeted as a mobile cash machine as he lost almost every time. Over about a three year period he mastered poker and won his first tournament. With the money he won, he opened a dry cleaning store and a furniture store. He later sold them both as they took to much of his time.
