by Abe Luciano on Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Todd Brunson is the son of the famous poker player Doyle Brunson both WSOP contestents so it comes as little surprise that Todd Brunson is such a successful poker player. Todd Brunson was eliminated in day 8 of this year's 2008 World Series of Poker . Commonly referred to as Darkhorse, Todd Brunson was born in El Paso, Texas in 1969.  Interestingly, Todd Brunson didn’t find an interest in playing poker until he started attending college. Originally intent on obtaining a degree in Law, Brunson decided to forgo the degree and to become a professional poker player, thereby following in the footsteps of his famous father.

WSOP Todd BrunsonAlso sometimes known by the alias “Sam Grizzle,” Todd Brunson is considered a semi-aggressive player and he won his first major win at the Bicycle Tournament in Los Angeles. Todd Brunson later got his very first World Series of Poker Tournament bracelet in 2005.  To date, Todd Brunson has won over a million dollars.

Currently, Todd Brunson acts as a representative for DoylesRoom.com, a virtual poker room ran by Doyle Brunson.  Todd Brunson is also the author of the Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo chapter for Super System 2, the sequel to his famous card playing father’s widely read book, Super/System. Todd Brunson has also assisted with Daniel Negreanu's writing as well.

Todd Brunson doesn’t live in the shadow of his father and has had little difficulty proving that he is a major contender at the poker tables.  Brunson attributes the recent buzz and interest in poker to the Internet and televised games on television.  Todd Brunson, while participating in numerous tournaments, thoroughly enjoys cash games.
