Online Poker Player hits Bad Beat Jackpot PDF Print E-mail

Online Poker Players Hit Record-Breaking $996,115.28 Bad Beat Jackpot at Absolute Poker. Absolute Poker today reported that its Bad Beat Jackpot was hit shortly after 9pm ET on Sunday evening, less than $4,000 shy of hitting the $1 million mark. The record-breaking $996,115.28 jackpot is the largest Bad Beat Jackpot ever won in online poker history.

“We’re hitting milestones, breaking records and making ordinary poker players extraordinarily rich,” stated an Absolute Poker spokesperson. “Bad Beat Jackpot continues to attract an enormous number of poker players to Absolute Poker and we can’t wait to beat the industry record we just set once again.”

The latest bad beat win happened on June 22nd at 9:06pm ET just one year after Absolute Poker launched the Texas Hold’em-based jackpot game to the delight of US players. An online poker player with the moniker RIVERMAN1969 from Pasadena, Maryland lost a hand of Texas Hold’em with four tens to BFOXY’s four queens, securing $325,212.40 for his loss. BFOXY left the table $163,343.67 richer and 88 other online poker players shared in an additional $163,343.67, including those seated at the table where the bad beat occurred and those seated at Bad Beat Jackpot tables featuring the same stakes and game type.

The popped jackpot eclipses the previous industry record held by Absolute Poker . On August 29th, 2007, the popular online poker site swiped the record for the largest Bad Beat Jackpot ever won in online poker history from Party Poker.

With more and more players flocking to Absolute Poker for a shot at winning hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash just by losing a hand of Texas Hold’em, the jackpot could easily reach a million dollars on a regular basis.

Absolute Poker is paying players for their losing hands. Bad Beat Jackpot is just like regular Texas Hold’em but with a slight twist. If a player loses a Texas Hold’em hand holding four 8s or anything better while seated at a Bad Beat Jackpot table, they’ll win a large piece of the Bad Beat Jackpot. The winner of the hand, the participants in the online poker hand and players seated at Bad Beat Jackpot tables with the same game type and stakes also share in the jackpot.

To help the jackpot build, $0.50 is collected from qualifying hands at Bad Beat Jackpot tables.

2008 WSOP Player Lee Watkinson PDF Print E-mail
Written by Vincent Davi

Lee Watkinson was born October 18, 1966 and is originally from Cheney, Washington. Lee’s WSOP record is one win and eight in the money finishes. Lee Watlinson should be a major player throughout this year’s 2008 WSOP player Lee Watkinson WPT record is three final tables and five in the money finishes. Lee’s lifetime tournament money total as pf 2008 is over 3.7 million dollars.

His tournament wins could be higher except that in the third season of the WPT in made the final table in two consecutive tournaments and finished second each time. He lost out to Eli Elezra and Doyle Brunson . If you are going to lose a tournament there is no shame to losing to either of these two players. As a more experienced 2008 WSOP player Lee Watkinson will do his best to top his second place finishes.

2008 WSOP Player Lee WatkinsonLee Watkinson has the nickname of “Sandwich” with the other pros as the name is a favorite type of bet he makes over and over with either a good hand or a bad hand. Bet on 2008 WSOP player Lee Watkinson at Bodoglife.com.

Lee really started to shine in the tounaments in 2004 and he has had very good money years each year since. His in the money finishes at the WSOP and final tables in the WPT were a precursor of things to come in the following years. His play has become even tougher for his opponents in the years since 2004. In 2006 he won a bracelet in the WSOP $10,000 Omaha Pot Limit event. This win was worth over six hundred thousand to Lee. In 2007 he made the final table in the main event and was knocked out in eighth place,  The payout for eighth was over a half a million dollars. Lee does not have a lot of wins, but he does do well in the money department.  In 2008 he made the final table in two consecutive events.  Lee finished  5th in a WPT event and 7th in a WSOP circuit event.  You cannot win a tournament without getting to the final table.  Lee Watkinson has that part of the deal down pat.

Joe Hachem was born in Lebanon in 1966 and moved to Australia in 1972. He is the first Australian to win the WSOP, having won the main event in 2005 and pocketing $7.5 million. He is only the 4th non-American to have won the World Series of Poker. A former chiropractor, Hachem started playing poker online and at live events in Melbourne; since winning the big one at the WSOP, he now plays poker worldwide and has amassed impressive record-setting statistics. For instance, he is one of only four poker players to have won both the WSOP and the WPT.

World Series Of Poker Player Joe HachemAs if the 2005 World Series Of Poker main event win wasn't enough to keep Hachem on cloud nine for years to come, in 2006 he won the World Poker Tour Five Diamond Classic title, which netted him nearly $2.2 million more. Not surprisingly, he set another record when he became the 2nd poker player to have winnings of more than $10 million. He is also involved in the WSOP Academy, which is an instructional poker camp staffed by some of the world's greatest poker players. One of the Academy's functions is to provide instruction to poker players who are competing in the WSOP Main Event for the first time.

In 2007, Hachem was elected to serve on the World Poker Association's (WPA) first board of directors.  WPA seeks to promote integrity and ethics in poker. One of his first duties as a member of the board is heading up a membership drive at the 2007 World Series of Poker. Hachem is married and has four children.

2008 WSOP - Which player will last longest in the $50,000 buy in HORSE Event (Event 45) at the 2008 WSOP occurring June 25, 2008?

At least one player must earn cash for wager to have action. Not all players need to participate for a wager to have action.
