Racist abuse from Spanish fans has left Formula One star Lewis Hamilton very upset. The 23-year-old Hamilton was racially abused by fans at the famous Catalunya racing circuit in Barcelona. Hamilton's Formula One betting odds to win it all in 2008 are quoted at 2 to 1 by BodogLife.com.
Lewis Hamilton was testing his new McLaren in souther Spain ahead of the 2008 season.
"It is a shame because I love this country, Barcelona and I feel saddened by this," said Hamilton.
Hamilton is hated by many Spanish racing fans due to his bitter feud with Spain´s Fernando Alonso. The fans who abused Hamilton blacked out their faces and wore T-shirts with threatening messages to Hamilton´s family.
Last year the two clashed regularly when racing for McLaren. The arguments became so bad that Alonso left McLaren in the close season to rejoin Renault.
Fernando Alonso´s Formula One betting odds are 8 to 1 at BodogLife.com. There is the possibility that Spain will lose both of its Formula One races following the racial taunting of Lewis Hamilton by spectators. The FIA ruling body said the abuse aimed at Formula One's first black driver during weekend testing at the Barcelona circuit might result in sanctions. Punishment could lead to the removal of two races from the Grand Prix calendar - the Spanish Grand Prix on April 27 in Barcelona and the European GP on Aug. 24 at Valencia.
