The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Phoenix this week for the Subway Fresh Fit 500. The race, which will take place at the one mile Phoenix International Raceway, is scheduled to get underway at 3:00pm ET on Sunday, February 27th (FOX). Subway Fresh Fit 500 Betting Odds have top drivers Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson each listed at -115 moneyline odds in a head to head matchup.
Neither Denny Hamlin or Jimmie Johnson 
had the type of result they expected in last weekend's season opening Daytona 500. Hamlin finished 21st but garnered 24 points after leading seven laps; Johnson placed 27th and failed to lead a lap (17 points).
Both drivers are hoping for a turnabout this weekend in Phoenix and their past histories at the track would suggest that is a definite possibility. Johnson, who has won the last five Sprint Cup Championships, owns four wins, 10 top five and 13 top 10 finishes in 15 career races at Phoenix International Raceway.
Johnson success in the Subway Fresh Fit 500 is also notable. The California native won the race in 2008 and he has five top 10 finishes in the six races he has entered.
Hamlin has not won the race, but he does have two top five results and three top 10 finishes in five Subway Fresh Fit entries. In 11 career races at Phoenix, Hamlin has recorded five top five and six top 10 results.
Last April, Hamlin finished a distant 30th at Phoenix but he had just recently underwent surgery to repair a torn knee ligament. Johnson started 16th and placed third behind Ryan Newman and Jeff Gordon in last year's event.
Matchup odds are subject to change after the starting positions have been set. Qualifying for Sunday's race is scheduled for Friday, February 25th.
