Heading into this weeks Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, we have a new Sprint Cup points leader in Jeff Gordon, driver of the Dupont No. 24 Impala of the Hendrick Motorsports team. However, his lead is razor thin over the number-two guy, Clint Bowyer with 441 points, 18 behind Gordon with 459. Matt Kenseth, who led the first two weeks following back to back victories at Daytona and Fontana, dropped to third in the point standings following his last place finish at Las Vegas on Sunday.
The points race is very tight with the top 12 drivers only seperated by 113 points. Bobby Labonte was the weeks biggest gainer jumping 12 spots into the top 10 at 10.
