Carl Edwards of Roush-Fenway Racing and driver of the NO. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion is oddsdmakers favorite to win at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, Kobalt Tools 500. Oddsmakers at online sports book Bodog at Bodoglife.com list Edwards the betting favorite at 5/1 odds.
Bodog oddsmakers are giving Edwards the favorites nod based on his past performances at AMS and not his performance in the three races run this year. Edwards' top finish so far in 2009 was a 7th place finish in the Auto Club 500 at Fontana in Week-2. Edwards finished 18th at Daytona and 17th at Las Vegas in the Shelby 427.
Edwards has run well throughout his career at Atlanta notching three wins and seven top 10 finishes in nine starts. Experts expect Edwards will be a contender this week in the Kobalt Tools 500.
Kyle Busch, who picked up his first win at Las Vegas on Sunday, is expected to give Edwards a run for his money, installed at 6/1 odds to win the race. Other top drivers expected to have a solid chance of winning are Jimmie Johnson (9/2) Jeff Gordon (7/1), Greg Biffle (8/1) and two-time winner in 2009 Matt Kenseth also at 8/1.
