Mark Martin of Hendrick Motorsports might be sitting on the pole for today’s Food City 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn., but teammate Jeff Gordon is the oddsmakers choice to win the race.
Other favorites on the SBGglobal.com NASCAR betting Board are Kyle Busch at +600, Carl Edward and Denny Hamlin at +800.
In qualifying news, Martin qualified for his second straight Sprint Cup pole on Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway. Martin will start on the front row tomorrow in the Food City 500 with Ryan Newman.
Martin turned a fast lap of 125.773, and Newman was second at 125.740. Jimmie Johnson, the three-time defending Cup champion, will start third (125.740).
"It's no secret we haven't had the best of luck this season," said Martin, who won back-to-back poles for the first time since 1989.
The rest of the top 10 consists of Greg Biffle, Kasey Kahne, David Reutimann, Reed Sorenson, Dave Blaney, Jamie McMurray and points leader Jeff Gordon, who seeks his sixth win at Bristol.
