NASCAR Sprint Cup racing returns to the one-mile oval of Phoenix International Raceway near Phoenix, Ariz., on Saturday April 18 for the running of the "Subway Fresh Fit 500". This 312 lap event is one of three races on the Sprint Cup Circuit measured in Kilometers. The race is also the first evening start of the 2009 season
Drivers from the Hendrick Motorsports stable are expected to dominate this race and have won the last two "Subway Fresh Fit 500" events. 2008 Sprint Cup points champion and 2008 "Subway Fresh Fit 500" winner Jimmie Johnson, driver of the Lowes No.48 Chevrolet Impala is the odds favorite (+400) according to oddsmakers at online sportsbook SBGglobal.com . Jeff Gordon, also of the Hendrick Motorsports team and last weeks winner at Texas is expected to challenge for the checkered flag along with Kyle Busch (Gibbs Racing) at +600 odds. Hendrick driver Denny Hamlin has the fourth best odds at +750 with Carl Edwards of Roush-Fenway Racing rounding out the top five at +800 odds.
