Zabeel Racing International owned Conveyance has already been put to training by trainer Bob Baffert and this famed trainer’s sights are on the Run for the Roses as his last win was in 2002. He has already admitted that he was happy with Conveyance’s 1:00.60 completion of five furlongs.
"Coming from the synthetics in California, they're not really used to the dirt, so it was good to see them work as well as they did," trainer Bob Baffert said of both Conveyance and Lookin At Lucky. "They'll both work two more times."
Grandfather of Conveyance, Holy Bull has had mostly 1st place finishes between 1993-1995 but only placed 12th in the 1994 Kentucky Derby. Conveyance who follows those 1st place finishes started out the 2010 year in the San Rafael-G3 with one of those 1st place wins with jockey Garrett Gomez. He continued that 1st place streak in the Southwest-G3 out of Arkansas but fell short with a 2nd place finish in the Sunland Derby-G3 in New Mexico both with Martin Garcia.
Baffert added on Conveyance after the Sunland Derby 2nd place finish, "a good horse. He jumps a long ways. We didn't really let him run the way he likes at Sunland, but that's not going to happen in the Derby. We're not going to grab him. He's more like the War Emblem type," referring to his 2002 Derby winner, "the kind of horse you've just got to let him run."
