Drosselmeyer Scratched From 2010 Kentucky Derby: Winstar runner, Drosselmeyer was confirmed to not be participating in the April 24th Derby Trial thus won’t be making it to the 2010 Kentucky Derby as his graded stakes earnings of $87,000 wasn’t enough to get him in. Although Drosselmeyer (Distorted Humor – Golden Ballet by Moscow Ballet) is no longer in the running to compete in the first leg of the Triple Crown, Winstar Farm’s racing manager, Elliott Walden has said that they’ll wait for the Preakness Stakes on May 15th.
Drosselmeyer started the year off good with his 1st place finish in the Allow out of Gulfstream Park in Florida with jockey Kent Desormeaux. He then placed 4th in Feburary’s Risen Star-G2 and then in March finishing 3rd in the Louisiana Derby-G2 both out of the Fair Grounds Race Course and with jockey Desormeaux. We’ll see if trainer William Mott can get Drosselmeyer ready in time for May 15th.
