Line of David started his career with a slow start only finishing 9th in the MSW out of Hollywood Park, CA with Garrett Gomez in late November of 2009. He also started 2010 pulling in a 7th place finish also in the MSW out of Santa Anita Park, CA. However, he did a 360 a little over a week later when he placed 1st on February 13th in the Santa Anita Park MSW. He continued the winning streak when he raced in the Allow also in Santa Anita in March with jockey Rafael Bejarano and then earlier this month with again a win in the Arkansas Derby-G1 out of Oakland Park with jockey Jon Court.
Coming in at 30 to 1 odds, Line of David (Lion Heart – Emma’s Dilemma by Capote) was originally supposed to be ridden by the Arkansas Derby jockey Jon Court but trainer John Sadler made the last minute decision to choose Rafael Bejarano – another Line of David jockey. Bejarano had been set to ride Setsuko but the horse is now out due to insufficient earnings. Owned by Ike and Dawn Thrash of Sabine Stable, Line of David’s dad – Lion Heart had a starting record in seven races of 2-3-0, which included a 2nd place finish in the 2004 Kentucky Derby and a 4th place finish in the Preakness Stakes.
