Twin Creeks Racing Stables’ owner Steve Davison has admitted that he’s a nervous wreck with the Kentucky Derby s
o close. Mission Impazible has drawn the No, 14 post position on Wednesday for the May 1st race.
“I’m not sure what I’ll be like by Saturday,” said owner Steve Davison from Churchill Downs. “Our idea is we’ll have the length of the (straightaway) to try to move over and get position before the first turn. “He’s (Mission Impazible) fit and looks great,” he said.
Twin Creeks bought Mission Impazible for $200,000 and has admitted that he’s an improving colt also capable of competing in the Derby. He was out for a while due to a leg injury in 2009 after the Kentucky Juvenile-G3 in which he came in 3rd but bought in the needed graded stakes earnings for the first leg of the Triple Crown with a 1st place finish in the Louisiana Derby-G2. His total graded stakes earnings are just under $486K.
“He continues to be moving forward, ’’ Pletcher said. ”His breezes since the Louisiana Derby are the best he’s had this year.’’
Davison also added, "(Mission Impazible) handled a variety of dirt surfaces. He’s handled slop. He’s handled synthetics. And hopefully, he can get lucky and get a good trip. If he’s in the race at the eighth pole, he has shown some guts.’’
