Kentucky Derby 2010 Contenders: We are now just a few hours away from the biggest horse race of the year, as 20 thoroughbreds will compete at Churchill Downs for the right to be called the 136th Kentucky Derby 2010 winner. As we’ve been highlighting all week, the main Kentucky Derby 2010 Contenders are: Lookin At Lucky [9/5], Sidney’s Candy [4/1], Ice Box [6/1] and Awesome Act [7/1]. But some of the Kentucky Derby 2010 Contenders have a problem with the Post Position.
The top Kentucky Derby 2010 Contender, Lookin At Lucky has drawn the worst position against the rail. If the odds are to be proven correct, Lookin At Lucky is going to have to surpass his position issues and make it up with speed out of the gate. It’s worth noting that the last time a horse won from the rail position was in 1986, when Ferdinand did it.
"He's got to break well," Bob Baffert said. "Plan A is to break well. Plan B is we're screwed."
Meanwhile, the second sports betting odds favorite, Sidney’s Candy drew the undesirable outside spot. One of the Kentucky Derby 2010 Contenders to look out for today is Devil May Care [8/1], who is listed withy the fifth sports betting odds favorites to win the Kentucky Derby 2010. Devil May Care, trained by Todd Pletcher, drew a favorable position at the 11th.
“Eleven is a great position from which to start the race,” Pletcher stated. “The only thing I don't like is that she'll have to be in the gate a long time.”
