2011 Kentucky Derby Entries this year shows the Run for the Roses will be a dandy, as two horses will enter the final day as the Sports Betting Odds favorites to win the first leg of the Triple Crown. As of now, Dialed In [+300] continues to dominate the 2011 Kentucky Derby Odds as the frontrunner, closely followed by a projected second place, Uncle Mo [+350].
It certainly helped Dialed In’s case that Wednesday’s post-position draws saw the Florida Derby winner avoid the inside or the far outside rail. Instead, Dialed In drew the favorable No.8 post. As for the projected second place winner, Uncle Mo remains the second choice in a full field of 20 horses, drawing the 18th slow, just three spots from the outside.
The colt suffered his first defeat in last month’s Wood Memorial, in part due to a gastrointestinal infection. According to statistics, 10 horses have won from the No.8 position, with the most recent being huge 50-1 underdog, Mine That Bird.
“It's a big thing, and he deserves it,'' said trainer and 2-time Kentucky Derby winner Nick Zito shortly after the post-positions were announced. “So far, so good. If he has another couple of good days we'll be happy. Things are doing all right.”
