Kentucky Derby Post Positions Odds

by Abe Luciano on Friday, May 6th, 2011

The wait is over, as the Kentucky Derby Post Positions have been listed and now the odds can show us who has the best spot to win the first leg of the Triple Crown season. Churchill Downs will host the 137th Kentucky Derby on Saturday from Louisville live on NBC starting at 5 PM ET.

Looking as the clear Sports Betting Odds favorite is Dialed In, whom has had the honor of winning three of four careerKentucky Derby Post Positions Odds starts, with the Florida Derby as the last start. The 4-1 favorite was given post 8, which has seen 10 Derby winners. Dialed In is hoping to become Nick Zito’s third Derby winner.

Zito won with Strike the Gold in 1991 and Go for Gin in 1994. Of the 20 that entered the race, only 19 will be on the field on Saturday after Uncle Mo was scratched off due to an internal ailment.

As the second favorite is now gone, the Derby becomes that much more wide open for surprises. Some of the other horses to keep an eye on include Nehro [6-1], who posted at 19, Midnight Interlude [12-1 ]in post 15, and Mucho Macho Man [ 12-1] at post 13.

At post 3 will be Twice the Appeal ridden by jockey Calvin Borel.  Although a win from Twice looks farfetched, Borel’s experience may push him through, as the successful jockey has won the Derby three times in the last four years.
