Owners George and Lori Hall have fielded Kentucky Derby horses before, but their best entry to date may be the Jump Start sired Pants On Fire. Pants On Fire, whose father was a product of the great A.P. Indy, will begin today's 137th Run for the Roses from gate No. 7. The latest Kentucky Derby Sports Betting Odds have the colt listed among the moneyline favorites at +1400.
Pants On Fire did little to turn heads 
leading up to the Louisiana Derby in late March, taking second in the Grade III Lecomte Stakes and sixth in the Grade II Risen Star Stakes. However, the horse's performance at Fair Grounds park caught more than its share of attention.
Pants On Fire bested the 12 horse field in the 1 1/8 miles race, beating Triple Crown hopefuls Nehro and Mucho Macho Man in the process. Jockey Anna Napravink pressed Pants On Fire, which started the event on the rail, hard over the final furlong in order to hold off the closing Nehro.
Luckily for Napravink she will not have to pull off any rail magic at Churchill Downs, where the challenge is far more difficult for the one draw given the number of horses competing. Instead, Pants On Fire will shoot from the seven hole, a spot that produced 2007 Derby winner Street Sense.
Trainer Kelly Breen was more than happy about that development, especially with another speedster sitting in position six.
"I like the post position, I like what some of the other speed horses got," Breen said. "I think we're in an ideal spot…the quarter's going to go, probably, sub-24, so no matter what you have to have a little bit of gas coming out of the gate. We're hoping that we're going to be forwardly placed and we have the right horse inside of us. Comma to the Top, [it's] a pretty good draw to be right outside of him."
