NASCAR Sprint Cup Odds: Southern 500 at Darlington

It took Matt Kenseth of Jack Rousch Racing only 27.394 seconds to break the all time qualifying record of 179.514 mph at Darlington International Raceway on Friday to win the pole position for tonight's Southern 500. In spite of his qualifying run, Kenseth is not oddsmakers favorite to win the traditional race. That honor belongs to Jeff Gordon of Hendrick Motorsports who will be starting outside of Kenseth on Row-1.

Jimmie Johnson, also of Hendrick Motorsports, was one of the race favorites prior to Friday's qualifying but a wreck killed his qualifying run sending him to the back of the pack for today's start. SBG Global has adjusted winning odds on Johnson at +1250.

Race favorite Gordon has five Southnern 500 wins and seven total Cup wins at Darlington. The track, often called "the track to tough to tame," has a reputation as one of the most difficult tracks to navigate.
