Jackson Bend 2010 Preakness Odds: Jackson Bend’s trainer Nick Zito has decided to continue in the 2010 Triple Crown by entering his colt in the May 15th Preakness Stakes. Go to SPORTSBOOK.com to get all of the current betting odds on all of your Preakness Stakes favorites.
At +1500 odds, Jackson Bend will need to do a lot better in the 2010 Preakness than his 12th place finish at the Derby. However, owner Robert La Penta and trainer Nick Zito doesn’t seem too worried about it after watching him four furlongs in 46.60 seconds at Churchill Downs.
“I am real happy,” trainer Nick Zito said of Jackson Bend. “It was a big move. He did it all on his own. Louis Quatorze ran 16th in the Derby, had a really good work and then won the Preakness (in 1996) ) so we are hoping lightning strikes twice. This horse is tough as nails, maybe the toughest I have ever been around.”
We’ll have to see how Jackson Bend comes out at the 2010 Preakness Stakes from post 6 as he almost didn’t make it into the Kentucky Derby after not having enough in graded stakes earnings. There’ll be some tough competition on the Pimilco Race Course this Saturday and the son of Hear No Evil and Sexy Stockings by Tabasco Cat will have to do his best for that 1st place finish. Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith will be riding Jackson Bend once again on May 15th.
“It looks like people aren’t believing what (jockey) Calvin (Borel) said (about Super Saver winning the Triple Crown),” Jackson Bend trainer Nick Zito said going into the 2010 Preakness. “But, I understand why he said it. The Derby is a deceiving race. Jackson Bend was making a decent move, but it’s hard with 20 horses and it will be hard with 14, too, this Saturday”
