Rachel Alexandra 2009 Preakness Stakes Betting Odds Update: Ever since entering this Saturday’s 2009 Preakness Stakes Betting Odds race, Rachel Alexandra has been listed as a heavy frontrunner by every major Sport Book in the world.
On Thursday, the Sports Odds favorite had a rather quiet day, as the final preparations for the race are under way. “We got in late, about 3:30 PM” said trainer Steve Asmussen’s assistant, Scott Blasi.
“She ate up great. The main thing is just keeping her happy. We’ll take her over to the paddock and that will be her exercise today. She’ll gallop tomorrow.”
Getting her used to the track is going to be key, as they look for her to be fully accustomed to her surroundings on race-day. “It’s just for her to relax and be comfortable where she’s at,” Blasi said. “It’s something we always do with our horses. She’s shipped before and run. We don’t want her to be nervous or unaware of where she is.”
Another concern was for the filly to be comfortable with her rider. Rachel Alexandra’s new owners and trainers are pleased that Calvin Borel decided to ride her in the 2009 Preakness Stakes Betting Odds Update. “Calvin knows her as well as anybody and has been a big part of her success in her works up to her races and her development in Hot Springs this winter,” Blasi said. “We’re very comfortable.”
