2009 Belmont Stakes Predictions: The 2009 Belmont Stakes has all the potential to become the biggest race of the season from a historical standpoint. Despite the fact that there will not be a Triple Crown winner this year, it doesn’t mean that history will not be made this Saturday at Belmont Park. The man grabbing all the headlines, veteran jockey Calvin Borel, is attempting to become the first rider to win all three legs of the Triple Crown riding different horses. Borel rode Mine That Bird to a 2009 Kentucky Derby win as a 50 to 1 long shot, then decided to ride filly Rachel Alexandra to victory in the 2009 Preakness Stakes. This week, Calvin Borel took it upon himself to make his 2009 Belmont Stakes Predictions, and guess whom he chose to win it? “We’re gonna win, no questions asked,” Borel predicted after a workout Monday at Churchill Downs. Just days away from the 2009 Belmont Stakes Predictions, Odds makers at SportsBook.com have sided with Borel, as them too are predicting Mine That Bird [+200 ML] as the 2009 Belmont Stakes winner. “He worked in :50 and out in 1:02, just like before the Derby. He is doing everything the same,” Sorel said. “After those two hard races -- the Derby and Preakness -- I think the (gelding) is very happy.” Everyone in Mine That Bird’s camp feels very comfortable and happy about their chances this weekend at Belmont Park. Especially because Kentucky Oaks and Preakness Stakes winner, Rachel Alexandra, will not be partaking in the 2009 Belmont Stakes Predictions, enabling Borel to ride the Kentucky Derby winner. So what exactly do Borel and Mine That Bird need to pull off the victory this Satutrday? “We just gotta get lucky,” he said. “Me and the horse fit good.” Here’s the remaining thoroughbreds competing in this Saturday’s 2009 Belmont Stakes Predictions, courtesy of SportsBook.com: Charitable Man [+300 ML] Dunkirk [+400 ML] Chocolate Candy [+1000 ML] Flying Private [+1200 ML] Summer Bird [+1200 ML] Brave Victory [+1500 ML] Mr. Hot Stuff [+1500 ML] Miners Escape [+1500 ML] Luv Gov [+2000 ML]
