Interactif 2010 Belmont Stakes Odds: There were hopes of Interactif racing in the 2010 Kentucky Derby but was pulled out last minute by trainer Todd Pletcher. Coming in at 12 to 1 odds, Interactif (Awesome Again – Worldly Pleasure by Devil His Due) is finally competing in the third leg of the Triple Crown. Although the colt had enough in graded stakes earning to compete in the May 1st Kentucky Derby, trainer Todd Pletcher pulled his colt out at the last minute after noticing the colt wasn’t training well enough. The Alain Wertheimer owned horse will be going into the Belmont Stakes with a 3-2-1 record of 8 total races.
"We felt the horse needed a little more time after the Blue Grass [where he ran fourth]," trainer Todd Pletcher explained his reason of pulling Interactif out of the Kentucky Derby last minute. "He worked OK at Churchill Downs but he wasn't up to what we were looking for in the Derby.”
Interactif hasn’t raced since the April 10th Blue Grass-G1 where he placed 4th with jockey Rafael Bejarano. Jockey Javier Castellano will now be riding Interactif in the Belmont Stakes out of post 12 and will need to time things right on the 1 ½ mile Belmont Park track if he wants to bring in the win.
"We brought him back to Belmont and his last two breezes have been excellent. He has taken to the dirt at Belmont. He has a very stout pedigree. So after consulting with the owners, we decided to try the Belmont," Todd Pletcher stated. "We just think that, everything considered, the Belmont is the right kind of race for us to take a shot at. I'm not crazy about the 12 post position, but it should be OK because we have [the speedy] First Dude inside of us, so maybe we can follow him as he clears the field and works his way over."
