Borel, who after winning the 2009 Kentucky Derby decided to abandon Mine That Bird to race aboard the filly Rachel Alexandra at the Preakness, attended the taping of the late night show earlier this week.
And like most people in America, the always entertaining, Letterman wanted to know if Mind That Bird held any hard feeling towards Borel after electing to ride the filly.
“Now, will the horse be angry with you because you weren’t there for the middle jewel of the Triple Crown? That you were out running around with a girl?” asked Letterman.
Borel basically assured Dave and the rest of the country that they had resolved their issues internally and there were no hard feeling towards the jockey.
“I’m a very friendly guy,” Borel said. “You know, I mean, I’m out there to win, and they know it, you know. And they’re out there to win, but I think he’ll be the best horse in the race."
