Belmont Picks Flying Private 18 to 1 Belmont Odds: The running of the 141st Belmont Stakes is set and ready to go so you better get your Belmont Picks in soon. Your horse racing wagers need to be in before post time which will take place at approximately 6:27 PM EST. TV coverage begins at 5:30 PM ET (2:30 PM PT), live from Belmont Park in Elmont New York. ABC Sports will have a live broadcast of this year’s race, beginning with their Belmont Stakes Pre-race show at 5 PM ET.

Since all the talk this week has been about the Belmont Picks frontrunners such as, Mine That Bird, Charitable Man, Dunkirk, Summer Bird and so on, I will be focusing on one of the two participants belonging to Hall of Fame trainer, Mr. D Wayne Luka. Belmont Odds: Flying Private 18 to 1 Belmont Odds

Let’s get things starting by pointing out that, Flying Private [18/1] has been listed by most racebooks in the world as a long shot with the 6th best Belmont Odds to upset the early Belmont Odds favorites.

The 74-year-old legendary, Lukas, will have two chances at dethroning what appears to be the already-crowned Belmont Odds champion, Mine That Bird, with Flying Private and Luv Gov. Luv Gov [25/1] is currently listed last in Belmont Odds to win Saturday night.

Nevertheless, Lukas approach in the days leading up to the Belmont Odds race is very calm, cool, and collected. "I'm comfortable," Lukas said. "I'm not getting up (Saturday) morning trying to prove I can win this thing. … I've got 13 of these things. I don't really have a whole lot to prove."

Nevertheless, history has already showed us never to count out the old man who has won the Belmont four times, including three straight from 1993-1995.

In the 2000 Belmont, going in 19-1 long shot, Lukas pulled off one of the most unlikely Belmont wins ever, as Commendable finished first. That, which was his last Triple Crown victory, tied him with James Fitzsimmons for the most Triple Crown wins by a trainer.

"It takes a special horse (to win here)," the Belmont legend added. "All of them run a mile and a half. Some of them just take a little longer. Of course, there is a gut check at about the quarter pole. We think we have a couple horses that fit the mold, at least in my opinion, to be competitive. … We've won this race before with horses that no one gave a shot."
