The Belmont Stakes odds makers at internet racebook SBG Global have made Miner’s Escape a 20 to 1 Belmont Odds long shot tomorrow at Belmont Park. Miner's Escape's grand sire is 1992 Belmont Stakes winner AP Indy but that does not seem to be reflected in the Belmont Odds. Miner’s Escape is trained by Nick Zito and jockey Jose Lezcano will taking the mount from the 9th post position.
"They may not be as good as Mine That Bird and Charitable Man, but at least they're fresh,” stated trainer Nick Zito whe asked to comment on his Belmont Stakes odds chances. "We've had some luck in this race (Belmont Stakes).''
Zito is familiar with Belmont Park and has one of his residences is located close to the race track in Elmont, New York. His stable is ranked 19th in earnings with $5,140,794 and Nick Zito has 62 wins in 436 starts over his entire career. The last time Zito won the Belmont Stakes was when Birdstone upset Smarty Jones to deny him the elusive Triple Crown.
“While most think Charitable Man will set the pace I think this guy will be the one on the engine,” stated VegasInsider.com Belmont Stakes Odds Expert Anthony Stabile when asked to comment on the 2009 Belmont odds of Miner’s Escape. “The problem is, unlike last year when Big Brown was a finished product by the time the Belmont came around and Da' Tara was able to lope along on the lead; the ones that will be behind this guy are fresh and ready. Can't see it.”
