NFL Monday Night Football Preview San Diego Chargers (1-1) vs Seattle Seahawks (2-0): Thank God it’s Monday? Yes, even if it's still just preseason. ESPN’s Monday Night Football returns with a very interesting match up, as the Seattle Seahawks renew their rivalry with the San Diego Chargers from Qualcomm Stadium starting at 8 PM ET. With both teams making their final preparations for the start of the 2008-2009 NFL regular season, the starters should start seeing some more playing time. In this NFL Monday Night Football Preview, the San Diego Chargers are -5½ (-240) betting odds favorites against the visiting Seattle Seahawks +5½ (+200). The Chargers and the Seahawks will meet for just the 9th time in preseason play. Currently, the Seahawks lead their head-to-head series 5-3. The Seattle Seahawks are coming off an exciting overtime (29-26) win over the Chicago Bears. The bright spot in the game for the Seahawks was the play of rookie running back Justin Forsett. Forsett recorded 261 all-purpose yards, including 136 rushing, and 52 in the overtime session. The Seahawks were able to win on a 36-yard field goal by kicker Brandon Coutu. For the Chargers, all the attention leading up to opening day seems to be on LB Shawne Merriman’s injured knee. After sitting out practice earlier in the week, Merriman announced that his surgically repaired knee didn’t feel right at all. Merriman told a local newspaper that, the ongoing knee problems were a result of torn ligaments in his (left) knee. As of right now, Merriman’s season is a huge question mark for the Chargers.
