2010 Australian Open: Kim Clijsters vs Nadia Petrova Betting Odds: One of the best third round matches highlighting the 2010 Australian Open Betting Odds Day 5 has 2009 US Open champion Kim Clijsters [-1000 ML] of Belgium taking on 19th seeded, sports betting odds underdog Nadia Petrova [+500 ML] of Russia. This third round, singles clash is scheduled to take place early Friday morning at 3 AM ET (12 AM PT) at Hisense Arena and it’ll be broadcasted live on ESPN-2.
This will certainly be Clijsters first test at the 2010 Australian Open, as Petrova poses an overpowering serve and some unpredictable challenges. Under the watchful eye of coach Christian Zahalka, the Russian will try to pull off the upset, as this will be a match of seeded players. But beating Clijsters will be easier said than done. The Belgian is riding the momentum of a 9-match Grand Slam winning streak.
"Nadia has to serve well," said Zahalka. "If she serves well, and if every set is tight, anything can happen. She has to be aggressive. She has to take it to Kim and dictate. If she can do that, she has a shot."
This will be the second time that Petrova faces a Belgian in the midst of a furious comeback over the past two months. The 5-foot-10 Russian ran into former No.1, Justine Henin during an exhibition in Cairo. Going in as the two-seed, Petrova couldn’t handle the 7-time Grand Slam’s power, as Henin prevailed in straight sets: 7-5, 7-5. "It was a very tight match, a winnable one," Zahalka added. "Justine won the match, not Nadia losing it."
