Third ranked Kim Clijsters meets second ranked Vera Zonareva this evening as each player attempts to reach the women's championship match at Melbourne. Clijsters and Zonareva, who met in the U.S. Open Women's final last year, are scheduled to begin play at 10:45pm ET tonight at the Rod Laver Arena. 2011 Australian Open Semifinals Betting Odds have Clijsters listed as a -170 moneyline favorite; the Over/Under on games played is set at 21.5.
Kim Clijsters owns three U.S. Open titles, 
but she has never captured another major crown. Clijsters, who was eliminated in the third round of last year's Australian Open, is just one match away from competing in her eighth Grand Slam final, though.
Clijsters earned a 10th career meeting with Zonareva by scoring her fifth straight sets victory of the tournament. The 27 year old Belgium native overcame 12th ranked Agnieszka Radwanska, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
Clijsters committed an inordinate number of unforced errors, 37, in disposing of Radwanska, but she made amends for her misguided play by slamming home 41 winners.
Vera Zonareva, who is vying for her first major title, reached her second Australian Open semifinals with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Petra Kvitova. Zonareva won 21 of her 30 first serve opportunities in the match and she also produced 16 fewer unforced errors (12 to 28) than the 25th Kvitova.
Zonareva, who has reached the finals in the last two Grand Slam events, is 3-6 in nine career meetings with Clijsters. However, the 26 year old Russian has gotten the better of her Belgium counterpart in three of their last four matches.
