The two won the gold medal in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics, but the top-seeded Swiss is not worried about the matchup. This will be their ninth time playing each other, with Federer leading 7-1, winning their last five matches.
"We have to play doubles before we play singles," Federer said. "We have already been kidding around about this. We are going to serve each other in the back."
The last time the two met was in the quarterfinals of this year’s Australian Open, when Federer defeated Wawrinka 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. Wawrinka recently upset Tomas Berdych, world no. 7, in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-4) in order to earn his spot in the quarters.
