Defeating Murray by 6-1, 7-6 in the quarters, now brings Soderling to seventh seed Andy Roddick in the semis. Roddick soared over Tommy Robredo of Spain, 6-3, 7-5, with his powerful game. The American had six aces and hit 19 winners, as he broke the 18th seed in the 11th game of the second set before holding serve to get the win.

The match lasted a mere 78 minutes, and after the match Roddick couldn’t deny that he was feeling good. "I feel like I'm playing really well on my own serve," Roddick said. This will be the Americans fourth time at the semis at Indian Wells.
