Roger Federer vs. Jose Acasuso 2009 French Open Betting Odds: 2009 French Open Betting Odds’ second round action continues live from the historic clay courts in Paris, France. Shockingly, the second seeded (SUI) Roger Federer [-8000 ML] still looking for his first win at Roland Garros.
After defeating (ESP) Alberto Martin in straight sets (6-4, 6-3, 6-2) in the 2009 French Open’s first round, Federer moves on to take on huge underdog, (ARG) Jose Acasuso [+2000 ML], as he looks to inch close to that elusive 14th Grand Slam title.
Federer is still chasing Pete Sampras’ mark for most Grand Slams wins (14) in history, as the Swiss hasn’t won a Grand Slam the 2008 U.S. Open.
The 3-time, French Open finals runner-up (2006, 2007, 2008 all losses to Rafael Nadal) comes in feeling very good about his chances to finally stop Nadal’s current French Open reign.
Federer is coming off his first win against the reigning “King of Clay” in over two years. Federer finally got the monkey off his back, upsetting the Spaniard in front of his countrymen at the 2009 Madrid Open earlier this month.
“Now I can focus. I can unwind for a while,” Federer said after his first round, 2009 French Open victory. “I have less pressure, because the pressure is when you have to manage the first round.”
Nadal, who’s looking to move into the record books as the only man to ever win five French Open titles, is currently tied with Bjorn Borg with 4 consecutive French titles.
In his opening round win against Daniel, Nadal shattered another French Open record held by Borg, who won 28 straight from 1978-81. Nadal also equaled the overall tournament record, matching the 29 straight that Chris Evert won between 1974-75 and 1979-81.
