Venus Williams: As the start of the 2010 Wimbledon Championships approaches, Venus Williams looks forward to a place that brings many great memories. Seeded at No.2, Venus Williams hopes to continue her success at the All England Club this season. "Playing on grass is, you know, one of my favorite things to do," said the American. "I think it's definitely a lot easier to play at a tournament where I've been so successful. Obviously, this is one of them."
Playing on grass is definitely a lot better surface for Venus’ type of play. Her powerful serves and groundstrokes are better accentuated on grass then on clay. Williams has reached eight of the past 10 finals at the All England, winning 5 championships.
Venus’ mother, Oracene Price, believes that both her daughters have so much success at Wimbledon, because they are coming off tough loses from the French Open.
"They hate to lose," Price said. "So when they get (to Wimbledon), they've got a different attitude."The French Open is the only major tournament where Venus has not reached the semifinals at least twice. It is the only major tournament where she hasn't reached the semifinals at least twice. On May 30th 2010, Venus was sent home after losing in the fourth round at Roland Garros.
Now we are yet to see how well she will pick herself up and work towards gaining her 6th championship at Wimbledon.
