Rafael Nadal Out of 2009 Wimbledon Odds: Moments ago it was announced that the world’s top-seeded player and reigning Wimbledon champion, Rafael Nadal, will not be defending his Wimbledon crown at the All England Club this year.

After struggling with tendinitis in his knees for a portion of the season, the Spaniard decided to take doctor’s advice and rest his aching knees for some time. “Unfortunately this year I won’t be able to play at Wimbledon,” Nadal said in a new conference.

Nadal made the announcement just moments after losing a second warm-up match in two days, 4-6 7-6 10-3 to Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka.
